i have a 67 camaro with a 454 that i recently rebuilt, after running the motor, not driving, just running. i pulled the valve cover breather and found white foam moisture, i thought it was just from the first start up, so i cleaned it and put it back on, the next day i found it again. the motor is not missing, is it possible i have a blown intake gasket?

Did you put any sealant on the head bolt threads. They are in the water jackets and you could be getting the water/moisture from there. I recommend removing the bolts one at a time and add liquid teflon to the threads and retorque them. You can get it from the auto parts store.

Then clean the valve covers and try it again.

It could also be a rocker arm stud needing sealant as some (all?) of them hit water also.

It could also be from not running a PCV POSITIVE CRANK VENTALATION...

How much are we talking about? If it's just some scum on the valve covers or a spot here or there it could just be condensation, is it in a heated garage or in the cold?
Not running the car to temp and then letting it sit you can get condensation in the valve covers.

No PVC and or not getting the engine hot enough to burn off the moisture. This is one reason why short trips are hard on the engine compared to freeway miles.

i called my dads friend whose been a mechanic for almost 40 years, he said it was from moisture in the breather that couldnt escape, im going to try and spray both breathers with brakleen and get the water out, i do have an extra breather with a pvc valve so if the brakleen doesnt work then ill just put the pvc one in and see how that does

get that motor up to operating temp and keep it there for a while- the easiest and fastest way to do it is to go for a 20 minute drive.

Agree,..it's likely condensation from the blowby. Are you even running the engine long enough to pressurize the cooling system? If not, then coolant probably isn't seeping into the crankcase.

Run a PCV valve and bring her to operating temp. Make sure your themostat is a 180 degree or higher which will ensure your oil gets hot enough to vaporize the liquid water (212~ degrees). Once in vapor form, the water is removed by the PCV system.
