Ok....Here is whats on the table for grabs guys. 04 GTO complete motor, harness, PCM anything I need from the car. Its a rearend hit so everything I need is good. Best part is she only has 2180 miles....Yes, I said 2180 miles. Should I grab this or hold out for a 6.0 ? Im having a real hard time not grabing this up. Whats the verdict?

Grab it. it's a 5.7 and makes 365 hp and 385 tq so it's only a 15 lb/ft difference from the 6.0. You can upgrade it if you want later. All the LS motors respond to upgrades well. Yes, it is a LS1 motor so it's an older generation but...
If you are looking for a budget motor, get a truck iron block 6.0. They are the cheapest to find. Car Craft or Hot Rod took one changed a cam and made 550 hp with a carb. So the power potential is there. You can find truck engines for under a grand. Go to LS1Tech.com and start perusing to figure out what engine is best for you. It is one of the best websites I have found that addresses LS motors. The LS3/L92's are the newest versions and probably the best way to go if you have the money. They will not be cheap out of the junk yard but will probably be the most fun should get one installed. |
