OUSTANDING WORK! That looks like a new wheel now. I will give it a try on mine too. I have one tiny crack that is on the rear of the center portion that needs this attention. I may just try to spray the rear side of the wheel instead of the entire wheel though. Thoughts?

Why? Just shoot it with urethane in it's entirety. You cannot blend a steering wheel with successful appealing results. It'll flow out perfectly with zero orange peel if you gun spray it.

Yeah, maybe you have a point. What brand of urethane would you recommend for it?

I can't. It depends on you. Sikkens, PPG, Dupont, HOK, R-M, Transtar, blah blah blah... I use what I have on the shelf at the time if I'm clearing it and I always have black basecoat of some sort.

Does it have to be urethane paint for a hard plastic or vinyl? Or can I use a paint like Rustoleum #7798 in a quart from Walmart? Will it adhere properly? Remember, I am not a bodyshop owner or have years of experience as you do. Any advice is appreciated.

If you have a gun then you can spray it. Must learn sometime. You are spaying primer now, right? Non catylized paint like a hardware store's is not impenetrable to the agents on your hands and not nearly as durable. It has it's place, non-heavy use metal components, dashes and the like. You don't need paint for plastic, use the same paint as the car's body. Although an adhesion promotor is advised first prior to the primer or any unprimed origional wheel parts. Rustoleum will adhere and using it is up to the individual.
