Default th350 removed ?

So my th350 was rebuilt about a year ago but decided to call it quits on me. I pulled it out last night to start my swap to a Muncie m-21 I have laying around. I was wondering is it normal for the engine to fall all the way back? It was laying on the firewall could I of damaged something? I never done this before but I want to start getting my hands dirty and learn more about my car. I have a jack with a piece if wood under the oil pan now jacked up supporting the motor. luckily I removed the distributor since I'm removing the motor to clean up the engine bay and cam the motor. Its a 69 camaro any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it's normal for it to fall back because the trans is not attached to the crossmember. Always support the engine from underneath when R&R'ing the trans. Good thinking on removing the distributor, it would have taken some damage. I like to support the engine from the oil filter, because the weight of the engine might distort it. Good luck with the swap, and be careful under there.

Thanks good to know I thought I might have damaged the engine mounts or something. heres a few pics of the mess I made since I know everybody loves pics.

And the reason why I probably broke the trans!!! Its not a ss its a base with a 307 but I bought it 7 years ago with the emblems and just never took them off.

Chris, 2 things..... first remember to keep your photos to about 880x660 in size so we wont have to scroll side to side to see the photos, then remove that FORD sticker on your fan shroud too. Camaros never had any kind of caution sticker there and some parts magazines seem to increase sales by putting that sticker in the camaro section. It was used on Mustangs, not chevy's, ever.

Good luck with the swap.
While you're in there swapping the tranny and cleaning that sticker off the shroud, replace your glass (breakable!) fuel filter with a steel one.

Wouldn't want that beautiful looking '69 catching fire.

use simple green for the road debris and a good engine degreaser on the frame etc while motor is out and a good drill and wire wheel can make easy work of 40 yrs worth of grim!!
hose it all off let dry for several days and repaint. Lots of work but the end result is worth the effort!!

Wow!!!! I never knew that about the fan shroud decal. Coming off first thing in the morning. Shame on some of the parts supplies for claiming them as something that was originally on the car. I'll be keeping the pics to 880x660 for my next post. Thanks Click.

HwyStarJoe I just read about that last night with the filters I will be replacing it as soon as the motor goes back in.

use the wire wheel on the frame and a-arms etc. not on the fire wall or the inner fenders use a scrubbing type spunge like for dishes etc for these areas!!

I figured the wire wheel would be to much on the fire wall. Do you recommend any paint to paint the firewall and frame rails with once I'm done prepping? I should probably have this moved some where else has nothing to do with transmissions. I removed everything except the engine block which should be coming out today if I can get my hands on a hoist.
