Default Speedo Gear question / problem

I had a 22 teeth gear in my trans and was running about 12 mph slow, so I put a 19 tooth gear in it and the speedometer will not work at all.
Any thoughts?
Mark

What color was the 22-tooth gear you took out - green, or silver?

Actually the 22 tooth I removed was kinda dark natural, or a very dirty clear.

That's why I asked what color the 22-tooth gear was that you removed. There were two 22-tooth driven gears - the silver one was used with the "large" (1.85") drive gear, which is compatible with the "small" family of driven gears (17-22 teeth, 0.8" diameter). The green one was used with the "small" (1.77") drive gear, and is only compatible with the "large" (0.87" diameter) family of driven gears (22-25 teeth).

Both drive gears have 8 teeth. The "small" drive gear is 0.531" wide, and the "large" drive gear is 0.610" wide; you can make a temporary gage out of cardboard and check the width through the hole for the speedo adapter "bullet" to see which drive gear you have on the output shaft.

John,
Thanks for the info.
I think I have opted to buy a converter.
