I have a 69 with houndstooth daytona yellow interior. The door panels have split at the arm rest area and I am going to replace. The door panels in there now have obvious stitching to them. They have split along the stitching. The replacements look like a foam type material. Were the stitched door panels originals? some kind of first run? I am the second owner and never realized the difference before. the original owner never said anything about ever replacing the door panels. I guess I will replace and keep these in the boxes. Any ideas why mine are stitched?

Jay,
Yours are stitched because thats the way they were made. And made in the USA.

I am also in the market for yellow deluxe door panels and would like to get an original type which is vinyl vacuum formed over foam with a cardboard backing. The Al Knocks (which I currently have on my pace car) are ABS plastic on the outside as well as an ABS backing board.
I am hearing there are new suppliers of this door panel and would appreciate if anyone hears of an "original type" being made.
